BlastMatch Fire Starter

Tue Feb 17 2009
We had the chance to review a BlastMatch Fire Starter from Ultimate Survival Technologies. It is a flint and steel type fire starter designed for use with one hand in extreme conditions. It is robust, solid and well built with quality materials. This is the kind of gear you can risk your life on. We expected a lot after our research on this fire starter and we were not at all disappointed. This fire starting tool is one of the best all weather fire starters we have had the opportunity to use.

From the Ultimate Survival Technologies Website:

Designed for all-weather use, this revolutionary flint based fire starting system performs superbly in the most extreme marine, arctic, desert, and jungle environments. The Ultimate Survival Technologies’ BlastMatch™ was designed for Air Force fighter pilots at risk of being shot down in rugged terrain, or the mountain climber contending with challenging alpine weather. People like these need a fire starter that is operable with one hand in case of injury, won't surprise you by running out of fuel, and never fails to light in the wind, rain, or snow.

worked just like it's supposed to. easy, quick firestarting. do wish the 'lid" would snap onto the bottom when open. can see the thinnish arms that hold the lid breaking. unless i held firmly the lid wanted to dangle about since it does not "lock" open
